Found some ground beef in the freezer and don’t know what to cook with it? Well, with only a few basic ingredients you cam make this flavourful Asian Style Ground Beef. Serve it on a pile of rice, preferably Japanese sticky rice, and top with a crispy fried egg!

Found some ground beef in the freezer and don't know what to cook with it? Well, with only a few basic ingredients you cam make this flavourful Asian Style Ground Beef. Serve it on a pile of rice, preferably Japanese sticky rice, and top with a crispy fried egg!

Ingredients

  • 4 portions Japanese rice
  • 400 g ground beef
  • 0.5 yellow onion
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 1 green onion
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp mirin
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 4 eggs
  • cooking oil
  • 4 tsp gochujang

Instructions

  • Cook rice according to the instruction on the packaging.
  • Chop yellow onion, mince garlic and slice green onion.
    0.5 yellow onion, 4 cloves of garlic, 1 green onion
  • In a medium hot pan, add some oil and sauté yellow onion for 5 min.
  • Add garlic and sauté for 2 min.
  • Raise the heat and add ground beef and cook for about 5 min.
  • Mix sugar, mirin and soy sauce in a small bowl and pour it into the pan. Cook until most of the sauce is gone and the ground beef is cooked through.
    2 tbsp sugar, 2 tbsp mirin, 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • Add sesame oil, sesame seeds and green onion and cook for 1 min.
    1 tsp sesame oil, 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • Fry eggs in a separate pan.
  • Serve the asian style ground beef with some rice and a fried egg, and add some gochujang if you like spicy food.
